The Selection (No Spoilers)

America Singer. A Five.
Aspen Leger. A Six.
Maxon Schreave. A One.

I'm sure almost everyone is familiar with the above names. However, if you aren't, those three names belong to some of the most beloved characters in YA (or at least to me). This is just a very basic outline of the first book and contains no spoilers. I will post a more in-depth review later on.

America Singer, a proud Daughter of Illéa and one of the thirty-five girls chosen to be entered in the Selection. The Selection is basically a chance for the prince of Illéa to find a wife and therefore the future queen of Illéa.

Aspen Leger, the hardworking Six who is absolutely in-love with America Singer. He is so in love with her that he persuades her to enter in the Selection for a chance at a better life than being stuck working for the rest of her life.

Maxon Schreave, the crowned Prince of Illéa. A man so controlled by his father that he forgets who he is as an individual, and has thirty-five women, who are competing for his crown, now living in the only place he has ever called home.

With America now a member of the Selection, she is thrust into a world of extravagant parties and over-the-top gowns, as well as the constant threat of rebels lurking just outside the castle walls. As she continues with the one thing she never wanted, America finds herself thinking of the possibilities that a life as the queen of Illéa could be.

  1. This seems interesting. I heard of this series before but I didn't know what it was about. Will pick it up soon, thanks so much for the review.
