Overview of the Selection Trilogy

Image
The Selection Trilogy I have just finished reading all of the books in The Selection  series and I decided that I would do a full spoiler "review" of the first three books and then do a separate "review" of the last two. This will just be an overview of the first three books because I don't want to spoil the entirety of the books. The first three books in The Selection series are told by the point of view of America Singer, the main character in the first three books. The county in which America lives is divided into castes, 1-8, and America is a five. A five's specialty is music or art. America is in love with a Six, who is a caste lower than hers and is poorer. His name is Aspen. One day, actually this is where the book starts off, America gets a letter in the mail saying that she is eligible to participate in the Selection. The Selection is a lottery of sorts where the eligible women of Illéa enter to compete for the heart of the crowned prince of ...

Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy-Review

Image
Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I posted anything but I have finally finished a book that I think I could do a really good review on. I just finished Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy after rereading The Mortal Instruments. Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy is a collection of originally separately published e-books by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Robin Wassermann now in print with a total of 10 stories, mostly set in Simon's POV. Each of these "tales" were amazing in their own right aside from being amazing all together. They follow Simon Lewis, now mundane after the events of City of Heavenly Fire and losing his memories of the Shadow World to Magnus' father. He decides to go the newly reopened Shadowhunter Academy to escape the desperate looks on Clary's and Isabelle's faces when they look at him and see the friend they lost. The tales show Simon's initial meeting of his now best friend George to findi...

The Selection (No Spoilers)

America Singer. A Five. Aspen Leger. A Six. Maxon Schreave. A One. I'm sure almost everyone is familiar with the above names. However, if you aren't, those three names belong to some of the most beloved characters in YA (or at least to me). This is just a very basic outline of the first book and contains no spoilers. I will post a more in-depth review later on. America Singer, a proud Daughter of Illéa and one of the thirty-five girls chosen to be entered in the Selection. The Selection is basically a chance for the prince of Illéa to find a wife and therefore the future queen of Illéa. Aspen Leger, the hardworking Six who is absolutely in-love with America Singer. He is so in love with her that he persuades her to enter in the Selection for a chance at a better life than being stuck working for the rest of her life. Maxon Schreave, the crowned Prince of Illéa. A man so controlled by his father that he forgets who he is as an individual, and has thirty-five women, wh...
