The Lunar Chronicles: Scarlet First Look

Image
Hey Guys and Gals. I have moved on to the next book in The Lunar Chronicles series: Scarlet . So basically this book is a continuation of Cinder (duh) but it also introduces new characters vital to the telling of the story. It introduces Scarlet Benoit, a girl who has been looking for her grandmother after she has been missing for 2 weeks. She then meets a man nicknamed Wolf due to his ferocity in the ring at illegal fights. Wolf then goes on to help Scarlet find her grandmother after finding clues from her deranged father that has just been released from the people holding her grandmother. Along the way, they come into contact with Cinder, who has been looking for Scarlet's grandmother, hoping for answers about her past. Wolf and Scarlet basically joins Cinder's crusade to stop Lunar Queen Levana from taking over the Eastern Commonwealth and then the rest of Earth. This book is also told from the POV of Cinder for some of the chapters. In her chapters, she escapes priso...

The Lunar Chronicles: Cinder First Look

Image
Hey Guys and Gals! I just reread Cinder by Marissa Meyer in the Lunar Chronicles after having read it like 5 years ago so I couldn't remember what happened. Anyway, just thought some of you might want a little knowledge on the very first book written by the now famed Marissa Meyer. Cinder is a cyborg. She can't remember anything before she was 11, when she was saved with a cyborg procedure. She now lives with her deceased stepfather's wife and 2 stepsisters. There is a plague that has been infecting humans in the Eastern Commonwealth and the rest of the Earth. Her only human friend, her best friend, Peony, her younger stepsister, has contracted the plague and now has only a few days to live. Cinder is sent to the palace of the Eastern Commonwealth to undergo cyborg testing to try to find an antidote for the plague. She finds out from the head doctor in charge that she is immune to the plague and wonders how she could be. You have to find out how she is immune by ...

Obsidian: A Lux Novel

Image
I just made the decision to re-read the Lux series by the AMAZING Jennifer L. Armentrout and I thought that I would create a blog post about the books in this series. The first book is titled  Obsidian.  Obsidian is told from the point of view of Katy, a girl who moved next door to a set of twins that are also aliens. Now conveniently, due to their alien DNA, the twins, Daemon and Dee, are like supermodels. Now Dee is one of those "people" that is just full of life and someone you just constantly want to be around. On the other hand, Daemon is a complete jerk. For someone who has an amazing body, his personality is straight from the toilet. When he first meets Katy, he treats her like she is some small-minded 12 year old. Although, and totally being devil's advocate here, she was staring at his chest for like EVER. All Katy wanted was directions to the nearest grocery store in the one-stoplight town she was forced to move to after her mom decided she needed to get a...

Favorite Book to TV/Movie Adaptations

Image
These are some of my favorite book to tv/movie adaptations. I know there are a bunch of books that have become tv shows/movies and I will be the first to admit that I have not seen them all and I do not want to see them all. These are just some of mine and I hope you all either check out the tv show/movie or the book or both if you haven't seen or read it yet! Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon I absolutely love what they did in this movie and how they brought in aspects from the book like the different drawings and quotes. I also adore the actors and actresses brought in to play these roles, especially Nick Robinson, who is an all-time favorite of mine. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl This movie is wonderful! I absolutely love the chemistry. I have to admit that I didn't see this movie when it first came out because 1) I had no idea what it was about and 2) I hadn't read the books, but after I did and then watched the movie I fell in ...

The White Rabbit Chronicles

Image
Hey guys and gals! I just finished rereading The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter. I hadn't read it for a while and I remembered just how much I absolutely loved them! First off, these books are about a girl named Ali Bell. She loses her parents and her adorable little sister Emma in a car accident after coming home from her sister's ballet performance on Ali's birthday. The reason the car crashes is because Ali's dad can see something no one else can: zombies. Ali believes her father is some psycho that has kept them locked up ever since the girls were born, but realizes her father was telling the truth when she begins to see the monsters the night she loses her family. After the accident, she is forced to move in with her grandparents and becomes and recluse till the first day of her junior year at a new school, where she runs into her now BFF Kat Parker after meeting at the hospital after the accident. She follows Kat until they run into Kat's on-and-...

Overview of the Selection Trilogy

Image
The Selection Trilogy I have just finished reading all of the books in The Selection  series and I decided that I would do a full spoiler "review" of the first three books and then do a separate "review" of the last two. This will just be an overview of the first three books because I don't want to spoil the entirety of the books. The first three books in The Selection series are told by the point of view of America Singer, the main character in the first three books. The county in which America lives is divided into castes, 1-8, and America is a five. A five's specialty is music or art. America is in love with a Six, who is a caste lower than hers and is poorer. His name is Aspen. One day, actually this is where the book starts off, America gets a letter in the mail saying that she is eligible to participate in the Selection. The Selection is a lottery of sorts where the eligible women of IllĂ©a enter to compete for the heart of the crowned prince of ...
